Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative

The DEI Committee was formed in 2020 to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion at AWS. The committee meets regularly to research and recommend strategies to ensure that all aspects of the school (curriculum, policies, etc.) are evaluated regarding cultural sensitivity.

Increasing diversity in our student body, faculty, and Board of Trustees is a primary goal, along with encouraging active reflection and self-evaluation of culturally responsive speech, action, and intention within the AWS community. We are excited about this opportunity to garner resources to implement regular DEI professional development, training, and workshops for faculty, staff, and the broader school community.

Linda Hoeg Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the Linda Hoeg Memorial Scholarship (LHMS) is to expand and enrich the learning community at Aurora Waldorf School by attracting and retaining students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color (BIPOC).

The scholarship is meant to help cover costs above the qualified Tuition Adjustment award in order to help retain current students and welcome new students into the community. The current term of the scholarship is for one year, with the goal of funding more years and scholarships as funds become available.
