LIVE - Grade 5/6 Form Drawing
Form Drawing was once described as "movement brought to rest." A form drawing is done freehand and in one motion without stopping. Its purpose is to foster flexibility in thinking and to develop artistic skills. It's a lot harder than it looks!
Completely handmade, the canvas was stretched over wood and painted black to symbolize the chalkboards that are iconic to Waldorf. The form itself is typically done in the 5th grade. The medium is high-quality chalk. I was inspired by the peacock feather for its striking color and texture.
The students created note cards which are of the form drawings of their design. They were to think of a design they imagined would represent them.

LIVE - Lilac Nesting Bowls w/Concentric Rings
The children immersed themselves into the process of making paper clay. Beginning by tearing their own old paintings to turn into pulp, they then followed a recipe to make a smooth paper clay that could be shaped and dried hard like stone.
The students rolled paper clay “snakes” of various colors to make each color ring. They then pressed the clay rings onto forms and the items were left to dry for a week. Now hardened and sealed, the finished class piece is 3 beautiful and durable nesting bowls.
Materials - Paper pulp and mod podge - (water resistant but not food safe)
